Bernard Brosnan


Fellow Chartered Accountant (FCA)

The firm was founded by Bernard in 1987. He ran the practice from his office in Hipperholme for 20 years at which point the firm moved to its present location. He is now winding down his full time involvement in preparation for retirement.

Adam Brosnan

Managing Director

Adam joined the practice in 2001 after qualifying on a graduate trainee program with PricewaterhouseCoopers.

Adam has successfully built solid relationships with both organic and 'merged' clients, as well as the steady stream of new referrals our clients introduce him to. He has been the protagonist behind the acquisitions the firm has made over the last decade, overseeing the complete process from initial exploratory meetings through to completion.

Adam doesn't dislike anything as anyone who knows him will attest to.

Kate Powell


Associate Chartered Accountant (ACA)

Kate joined the practice in 2009 as part of the Brosnans acquisition of Bradford based chartered accountants Fearnside Marshall. Kate is well versed in all aspects of accountancy, audit and tax and is involved in all areas of the practice.

Kate shudders at the thought of sleepless nights, disorganisation and strawberries.

Sharon Hutchinson


Sharon joined the practice in 2010 as Practice Development Manager; her previous 12 years were spent in Business Development at PricewaterhouseCoopers and latterly 4 of those at KPMG. Sharon has been recruited to increase the external profile of Brosnans and improve all internal systems to increase operational efficiency.

Sharon shows an aversion towards greed, laziness and conspicuous consumerism.

Laura Brain

Laura Brain

Associate Director

Laura joined Brosnans in 2017, having been a partner at a firm of Chartered Accountants in Leeds/Bradford for ten years. The move enables her to work much closer to home whilst still managing her client portfolio. Laura has 19 years' experience in accounts, audit & taxation advisory roles, she qualified as a chartered accountant in 2001. Her specialisms are charity and not-for-profit advisory work (accounts, gift aid, tax, VAT) & software installation/set up/training (Quickbooks, Xero, Sage)

Believe it or not one of Laura's greatest dislikes is long commutes...followed closely by disorganisation and fish (in food or swimming format)

Amanda Belfield

Amanda joined the firm in 1991; her main responsibilities are audit and accounts preparation.

Amanda takes a great deal of offence from Cliff Richard and New Year's Eve.

Stephen Patefield


Stephen joined the firm in 2007 and undertakes accounts preparation and book keeping.

Stephen enjoys everything except Sharon's emails requesting information, rats, warm white wine and anything flavoured with aniseed.

Graham Marshall - Consultant

Fellow Chartered Accountant (FCA)

Graham was one of the founding partners of Fearnside Marshall whom we acquired in 2009, he is in the process of winding down to retirement and now acts as a consultant. His duties include all aspects of accountancy and tax.

Graham's dislikes are TV programmes that include any of the following: X, Big, Dine, Jungle, Essex and Idol, closely followed by excel spreadsheets.

Nina Hampson


Nina joined the practice in 2008 as part of G H Senior & Co, her duties include annual accounts preparation, VAT, management accounts and payroll.

Nina considers that the world would be a better place if there were no movies ending in a dog death, no Go Compare television advertising and no chocolates flavoured with coffee.

Karen joined the firm in 2009 as part of the Fearnside Marshall package, her duties include book keeping, management accounts, company secretarial, and annual accounts preparation. Karen also acts as our back up super efficient office administrator.

Karen becomes very agitated with txt spk abbreviations and scroungers.

Rachelle likes to avoid traffic, lazy people and mushrooms.

After school Colette went to work for Kenneth F Forsyth Limited and attended Babington Business College where she gained her Association of Accounting Technicians (AAT) qualification.

Colette joined Brosnans in 2017 and is currently studying for her Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA) and hopes to fully qualify in 2021.

Colette has no liking for politics, peacocks and kidneys

Ruth Ramsden

Ruth joined our practice in December 2017 as part of the acquisition of Kenneth F Forsyth accountants based in Sowerby Bridge. She qualified as an accountant in 2014 and has since been carrying out book keeping jobs, annual accounts production, VAT returns and personal tax returns. She has just started her studying for her Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA) and hopes to qualify as soon as she can.

Ruth hates the thought of hairy toes along with tomatoes and heavy metal music.

Aimee joined the practice in August 2016 as a trainee. She is qualifying as an Associate Accounting Technician on day release, and hopes to continue her studies to chartered level.

Aimee feels queasy at the thought of mushrooms, Donald Trump and the sound of loud eating.

Olivia joined us after deciding University was not the right career path, she completed her A levels in 2016, and has now commenced the Accounting Technicians course.

Aside from disliking University, she is yet another member of staff with a firm dislike of olives and politics.

Karen joined Brosnans in 2017 as a book keeper, her specialism is Sage book keeping. She joins us with 15 years of accounting experience.

Karen has a couple of intolerances: one of which is the popular dislike of fish bones, and the other is the sadly unpopular dislike of Facebook.

Craig joined the firm in 2010 with the acquisition of R S Tennet & Co based at Heckmondwike. He has a dual role of accounts preparation and tax returns.

Craig exhibits no sympathy for almost everything, but top of his list are Ferrero Rocher and cyclists.

Lorraine Robinson - Payroll Manager

Lorraine joined us as Payroll Manager in the Summer of 2012, she brought with her over 30 years experience of payroll management gained in a variety of industries, from local businesses to large multi-national enterprises, consequently she has had exposure to all matters regarding salaries and benefits.

Lorraine, who only exudes calmness can be heard to tut at reality television and bad driving.

Ann joined our Payroll Team in October 2015 with over 15 years experience in book keeping and payroll.

At the top of Ann’s dislikes are people moaning about problems instead of solving them, mice and Turkish Delight.

Joanne Sykes - Payroll Officer

Joanne has 22 years payroll experience, gained at Mid Yorkshire Chamber of Commerce and a local chartered accountancy practice.

Joanne, is one of a number of our staff who strangely share a hatred of olives, other dislikes include dogs not on leads and cold callers.

Farid Maleki - Payroll Officer

Farid joined our expanding Payroll team in June 2018 with 15 years of payroll experience gained in various accountancy practices. He has a degree from Leeds University and enjoyed a career break in Paris assisting his family business.

Farid's major intolerances are ignorance, bad driving and any food made without TLC.

Julia is our front of house wonder woman; she deals, as if by magic, with all the office administration and reception.

Julia cringes at the smell of lamb cooking, dusting and an "I'm entitled to" attitude.

Michelle joined us in 2017, she was known to us as a client with a background in HR and Financial Services. She ran her own company for 18 years.

Tim Eddison

Tim Eddison

Tim joined Brosnans when his firm, Eddisons, was acquired in 2016. During his working life Tim has spent equal amounts of time in Industry and Commerce and in the Profession so can empathise with both sides of the spectrum.

He enjoys walking and all sports involving a ball, except tennis, and dislikes weather forecasters and any form of shellfish.

Chris joined Brosnans following the acquisition of Eddisons in 2016. He has lost count of the number of years he has been dealing with accounting and taxation as there are not enough beads on his Abacus.

Whilst Chris enjoys cooking and eating, he definitely gets a bee in his bonnet about poorly prepared risotto.

Practice Manager

Chris joined the Brosnans team in 2016, having worked for a firm of Chartered Accountants in Pudsey for the last 15 years. Chris brings with him 25 years of experience in accounts and taxation. Chris has been selected to manage the office based on his approachability and proactive attitude. He will be responsible for managing the office on a day to day basis and acting as support to both clients and staff.

A perfect day for Chris would be one that does not involve cooking or shopping.

Freda joined the practice in 2017 as a manager at our Keighley office. She has over 17 years experience working with owner managed businesses, providing them with compliance support, proactive tax advice and business advisory services. She manages a portfolio of non audit and unincorporated businesses, leads the professional training programmes for staff across our three offices, and is part of our team driving and assisting our clients with cloud computing in readiness for Making Tax Digital.

Freda qualified as a Chartered Certified accountant in 2004 and achieved her Chartered Taxation Advisory qualification in 2016.

She displays negativity towards negativity, bad parking and disorganisation.

Elizabeth joined Brosnans Brighouse with the Fearnside Marshall acquisition, and has now joined the Keighley team due to her Aire Valley residence and a corresponding HUGE reduction in commuter time!

Elizabeth is a key member of the Brosnans team with vast experience in book keeping and management account services, annual accounts preparation, payroll and Sage.

Elizabeth's personal dislikes include olives, shopping, long commutes and ALL domestic duties.

Payroll Administrator

Jill started working for Eddisons at the age of 17, she left temporarily to work directly for a client and built up her book keeping, VAT, and payroll skill base, only to return to Eddisons. Jill now is the main point of contact for Payroll.

Jill will be at her least impressed state if presented with a plate of sausages and/or offal.

Beth joined Eddisons in 2013 as a secretary after realising working with children was not for her! After a year she progressed to accounts clerk and commenced studying the AAT course, Beth qualified as AAT in 2018, and intends to progress her professional qualifications with ACCA.

A competitive Keighley staff member... she HATES losing! Almost as much as red meat.

Selina joined us in 2017 on the apprenticeship scheme, having achieved distinctions in her BTECH course and has now commenced the Association of Accounting Technicians qualification.

Mandy joined Brosnans in April 2016 with a stack of experience in clerical and administrative duties gained mainly in the field of a finance function. She carries the burden (yet copes!) of being the Keighley office wonder woman and organising us all.

Helen Handford

Practice Administrator

Helen joined the firm in 2006 as Practice Administrator in our High Bentham office, and moved to our Keighley office in March 2019.

Helen's background includes secretarial and administrative roles with Royal Ordnance Factories and the Civil Service. She assists the accounts and tax department with the day to day office administration of the practice and dealing with client enquiries.

Dislikes: rudeness and olives of any colour, stuffed or unstuffed, in oil or brine, on trees or in jars.
